Robot Cell for Unscrambling & Sortation of Medical Plasticware

An interesting Industrial Automation project recently installed for an Australian manufacturer of medical plasticware.

The system included container unscrambling and orientation for 2 production lines. Each cell included a bulk hopper feeder, step feeder and ABB IRB1200 robot. Both cells can run simultaneously or independently depending on production requirements.

Each cell can sort and place 1000 units/hour for a total of 2000 units/hour. Containers range from 500ml cylindrical cups to 9ml test tubes.
